nursyafiqa says: okay for eg tan ah kow wanted to marry aminah bin ahmad so he converts into islam and changes his name to taufik tan bin abdullah. then taufik tan and aminah has a baby n they named her rahimah. since rahimah is already born into a muslim family, then her name will take after her father's name. so she'll be known as rahimah tan bin taufik tan(up to the parents if they wanna preserve the chinese heritage still)
